4 - 6 November Lower Greenhill Farm
Salterforth (Bonfire Meet)
Well done goes to the committee of North Lancs DA, for an
absolutely cracking bonfire meet. Alan and Maureen were our stewards to welcome
everyone, so a big thank you to them.
Friday and the first van arrived on field just after 11.30am, followed quickly
by several more. Then things slowed up till around 4pm. Then came more vans with
one or two having a challenge with the mud and of course at this time of year
the dark nights, but as we campers do, we rose to the challenge and with
everyone's help, everyone arrived on-field safely. With the last van arriving
just after 7.30pm.
Again some of us sat out for what is turning into a regular Friday night feature
around the log burner. This weekend we even had a couple of gazebo's up in
readiness for our famous hot supper after the fireworks.
Saturday morning and thank you to Ebony & Chloe for helping make the guy. You
did us proud, well done girls!.
Many thanks to Ken, Dave, Alan D, Chris F and Pete. Well done on building the
bonfire and sitting this years guy on top. Also for marking out a safety area
for our spectators.
As night fell campers gathered for our lantern parade to watch the festivities
in safety. Thanks to lead fire marshall Chris K and his team Alan D, Chris F,
Pete and Alan H. You worked hard in getting the bonfire and timing of the
fireworks display running safely and smoothly.
Back at the gazebos and Tania's kitchen was in full swing with a big thank you
to Tania for the hot potato pie, also Maureen T and Lillian for the burgers and
hot mulled wine. To add to the festivities Margaret H had made yummy bonfire
toffee and parkin along with black peas. The children all received a toffee
apple, reflective safety stickers and glow-sticks.
Our fireworks lasted for well over an hour without any pauses thats some good
timing and team work. Then back up under the gazebos to warm up and a choice of
supper.
Fire marshalls did their safety checks before being the last ones into bed at
some silly o'clock.
Sunday and after an overnight frost the sun came out, so we were able to enjoy
coffee sat outside and enjoy the last of the parkin. Alan D our chairman gave

Fun, Games and spooky goings on was the order of this weekend as everyone joined
in for another fantastic meet. Peter and Lillian stewarded this years Halloween
meet for us. They really put in a superb effort by even decorating their unit,
but they were not the only ones as quite a few really got into the spirit of the
whole weekend.
We welcomed quite a few new members to DA camping this weekend and from the feed
back we received, North Lancs. got top marks for an all round A star
performance. It is nice to get the feed back be it positive or negative, the
latter we can amend and then put it right. The positive can only get better.
Friday and as our stewards arrived so did the first of our units a steady stream
of van continued throughout the day with the last arrival on field at just after
8pm.
Again another Friday evening with an open invitation to sit around the fire to
catch up with everyone!.
Saturday morning and a nice day for a drive out to visit nearby attractions. On
Saturday the committee and helpers worked hard together trimming up the hall.
Due to the weather turning very wet! the children could not get round all the
units for the traditional 'trick o treat' so a full table of treats awaited them
in the hall.
Tania kept the evening alive with themed games and activities accompanied by
Alan 'the wolf-man' D on the music. Well done to all the campers who joined in
the fun dressing up (check out the photo's). Congratulations to all the winners.
Tania and her helpers provided an excellent festive supper with a choice of
three different soups. Spicy tomato, Pumpkin wine or parsnip, all served with
bread rolls. Followed by home made parkin. Another brain teaser of a quiz,
themed around Halloween was also very entertaining. Notices during the evening

It is always appreciated when the W word prevents some of us not getting on field till late. So Friday evening, we all sat out enjoying the warm evening air and catching up on everyone's news!
Saturday morning and the sun came up, and what a beautiful day! All units were asked whether we should hold a social in the hall. During the day some had a trip off field to nearby Blackburn while others went further afield to Preston. While some stayed on field and enjoyed the sunshine. By late afternoon most were back on field, they came and joined others round Chris and Tania's van for an early drink and we all put together ideas for our social under the stars. As darkness drew in, everyone made there way up field for our social. Everyone was greeted with a champers welcome drink with nibbles. Tania and Chris had arranged with a local chippy that anyone wanting an easy meal they could ring up and collect, saving time and effort, which quite alot of campers took the opportunity to do on arriving on field Friday. A commemorative engraved peg was handed out to each unit on booking in.

He also drew attention to the fact that due to the lack of willingness to steward meets anyone arriving on field before the steward, please could they assist by ensuring that they and others arriving, site their units in accordance with the Camping and Caravanning club rule. Failure to do this they may be asked to re-site their unit by the steward when they eventually arrive. We ask all members please to cooperate especially with the dark nights as some units do not arrive on field sometimes till 8pm and siting could then pose a problem. We also do not want to have to cancel meets. So please we all enjoy our camping so lets all help one another so that we don't have to miss any of our weekends 'Out and About'

During the evening Campbell became the star attraction when he fell on his bottom whilst attempting the jive!! with birthday girl Margaret (really funny) fortunately only his pride was hurt. (can we have an action replay please! was anyone quick enough with a camera?) not laughed so much for ages. Also our treasurer Alan H had arranged a surprise party for his wife Margaret complete with birthday cake and balloons. Much to the delight of the children & other campers who also enjoyed the Jacob join supper.

Hello everyone and what a smashing weekend we have all enjoyed. The weather was beautiful, our venue had beautiful walks and views. We took our pick of sitting around enjoying the sun (making up for last weekend) or having a walk or drive in the surrounding countryside.
Many thanks to our stewards Pam and Campbell. Who as always with their charm made everyone welcome, especially all the new members to DA camping this weekend.
Saturday evening and it was Tania who put on a cracking themed social of 'Phoenix nights' complete with Max, Paddy and Holy Mary the night club cleaner. Not forgetting Lady GAGA and a few more stars to make the evening shine. The night included children's hour, a pub quiz, some male members strutting their stuff at the laughing policeman!, yes you read that right!.
We had a beautiful buffet supper, followed by a round of 'play your cards right'. Which was won by Holy Mary the night club cleaner aka Maureen. Well done, you certainly did play your cards right this weekend.
We also had quite a few stars in their eyes on the karaoke, from the weather girls, to a few new members showing us what they could belt out for us, not forgetting our singing vice. The evening would not be complete without a song or two from the Phoenix club series.
Sunday and coffee was at 11am. Angela had regalia on sale. We also had our book stall out as well. Our chairman gave out our notices and then handed over to our sites officer who updated us all with the next few weeks meets.

Hello as I write this newsletter, we are all drying out, due to the weather we have had this weekend the Boules & BBQ quickly turned into a cosy evening buffet supper, which was enjoyed by all instead of a wet and soggy burger. Never mind, despite the torrential rain we had a great time and everyone that supported us, all said it had been a great weekend.
Many thanks to Jack for opening our rally and holding the fort till our stewards Pam and Campbell arrived. We also must thank Maureen ,Alan , Owen and Yvonne for the shopping for our Saturday night buffet. Also thanks goes to Pam, Maureen, Angela and Yvonne for the buffet preparation.
Our Saturday night social included colouring for the children and party dances along with a good selection of dance music for all throughout the evening, provided by our chairman Alan D. Thanks also to Geoff for assisting Alan with the setting up and packing away of the music equipment.
Also during the evening Maureen and Campbell sold raffle tickets for our 'play your cards right game', which proved very popular indeed.
Before the buffet was served Alan D our chairman gave out all those important announcements, as we decided to cancel Sunday coffee.
Notices included next weekend meet at Dale Hey, Ribchester. Pam and Campbell ill be your stewards again. Our Saturday evening social takes on a Phoenix nights family pub social with supper. From the 27 July our school holiday meet starts at Lightwater Valley where Owen and Yvonne will steward for us. Please show them your support.
On that note I hope you've all dried out and the weather will be kinder to us next time on field.
Sunday 10th July: Manchester to Blackpool bike-a-thon In aid of Christies.
Although North Lancs did not have a rally this weekend, three members took to their bikes and rode out for charity. A big CONGRATULATIONS to Alan Hinchliffe, Craig Metcalfe and Campbell Martin for completing this mammoth task. All in aid of this wonderful cause. Your family, friends and all at north Lancs DA salute you.
Please visit our photo section for a picture of the three before their departure.
Our next meet is our Boules & BBQ which is held next weekend 15/17 July at Whittingham & Goosnargh S&SC. Boules & BBQ Saturday afternoon (weather permitting) Followed in the evening with social in the club house.
Please do come along and join us at this popular event.
29 June - 4 July Lyme View Marina
What a lovely rally we have had at Lyme View Marina.
Joan and Jack stewarded for us, the weather was fantastic and the turn out was
excellent.
The sunset was spectacular. The ducks on the canal were nice and we even saw
some ducklings. We did a coffee morning and had a book stall which is getting
very popular. Everybody really enjoyed the rally and some can't wait to come
again to this lovely quiet spot by the canal and all its lovely walks and cycle
tracks which are very well used.
24-26 June Landsdowne Hesketh Bank
Hello again everyone. Well this weekend started out
nice but as Friday progressed the rain set in.
We must give a big thankyou to Geoff and Angela who stewarded without their unit
as their car is poorly. They did a marvellous job till teatime when other
members arrived to take over, they showed true dedication to North Lancs. We all
hope your beloved tow-car is better soon.
This weekend meet was a new venue for north Lancs. However, it got the thumbs up
from all who joined us. A nice flat field with fishing on site, sales of home
grown produce and only a short drive to Southport. Our marquee was up,
Saturday most people during the day headed to Southport, which as it happened
was also Southport carnival.
After a busy day at the seaside, 'The Squeeze Inn'
was open with the start of our evening entertainment included games for everyone
provided by Tania, along with face painting for the children as well as some
adults. Thanks for all your hard work once again Tania!. Then it was
supper time thank you Alan H for feeding us all our free sausage supper, after
that we played a few games of 'play your cards right ' which proved very
entertaining. Thank you to Don & Anj for that.
Sunday morning, the sun made a very welcome appearance for our coffee morning
which we enjoyed sat in the sun. Alan D our chairman gave out the thanks along
with other notices.
Our vice and sites officer Margaret H updated us all
with upcoming meets along with a plea for stewards for one or two meets, so
please when you read this could you help!!! Please contact any committee via our
contact page or speak to us on field.
Our next meet is a 5 night meet at Lyme view marina your stewards for this meet
are Joan & Jack Hinchliffe.
They look forward to welcoming you there.
17-19 June Midsummer Meet at Hamilton House Farm
Well everyone, the weatherman got it a bit wrong
this weekend. However, it was to our advantage.
A BIG THANK YOU to our stewards Geoff and Angela you are a great team.
Saturday and the street was trimmed with bunting, the stalls colourfully
decorated and the stall holders in there chosen occupational dress were
outstanding!
We had a police officer and a jailbird. A dodgy pharmaceutical team, a nice
Victorian cake lady, some likely lads from the bottom of the garden, temping mas-surer,
cast members from Shameless and Steptoe, a hairy biker and also the staff from a
Victorian kitchen. All willing to tempt you to spend your money on the many
different stalls. All helping to boast DA funds. Well done all of you, we had a
great afternoon with plenty to do. I think the most popular stalls were the
stocks and tin-can alley. Well done Owen and Yvonne.
Another big thank you to Owen, Yvonne, Maureen and Margaret for cleaning the
hall in preparation for our evening entertainment. How many buckets of dirty
water? Phew!
Saturday evening and first it was children’s hour with Tania. Again new games
for the children to try their skills. Then it was our live cabaret. A welcome
return to Mr Jimmy Towers, with added entertainment from some north Lancs.
hidden talent!! (You know who you are, for those who don’t check out our
photos). Our Jacob join supper was well received after all the dancing. Also we
have to say thank you to Alan D for providing the music during our street fair
and also during the evening entertainment.
Congratulations during the evening went to Brian and Sue who celebrated their
35th wedding anniversary.
We also wished a very happy 14th Birthday to Kirsty.
Sunday morning at eleven we had our coffee and closing ceremony with the
awarding of prizes and our grand raffle draw. Well done to all our lucky
winners. Also a big thank you to all our sponsors for their kind donations to
our grand raffle and also DA members. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Our vice chair and sites officer gave details of our up and coming meets. We
also have a couple of spare places for our New Year meet, if you are interested
please contact her.
Our chairman then thanked the stewards and the committee for all their hard
work, planning the event and all the support throughout this weekend. He thanked
members themselves for their continued support.
As our motto says, we are the DA where everyone
matters. He closed by wishing everyone a safe journey home, both himself and the
committee look forward to meeting you all on field again soon
27 May-12 June THS Trearddur Bay
Another success story for our DA. Our site at Tyn Rhos
Trearddur Bay, opened at noon on Friday with the first vans waiting at the gate.
From then on in, we were kept busy up till 10.15pm. A big thank you to Alan and
Margaret Hinchliffe, Alan and Maureen Davis and Jack Jennings (keeper of the
keys) You all did North Lancs. proud!
A big thank you to the clerk of Holyhead council Cliff after receiving an e-mail
from Maureen, He delivered to the site a box full of maps of the island and
booklets packed full of useful tourist information to pass on to the visitors at
the meet.
We even put our marquee up for booking in and social use throughout the holiday
meet. Good weather out shone the few heavy showers that passed as quickly as
they came.
On Sunday one young camper celebrated his birthday, he treated all the stewards
to a piece of his giant cake, Thank you it was yummy!
Local attractions include the many beautiful beaches around the island, a trip
to RAF valley to get even closer to watch the aircraft fly in, land and take
off. Even though we did have close fly pasts over the rally field, another nice
trip was to south stack with it's challenge to the lighthouse. For those less
brave maybe sit a while, take in the cliff top views and also watch the birds
from the viewing tower.
A weekly market to bag a bargain was another
destination, while some enjoyed a spot of fishing or just the relaxed atmosphere
on field. After a long day doing whatever took your fancy. Maybe for tea it was
a BBQ or local fish & chips. I know our stewards had there evening table filled
with mouth watering treats and their wine glasses charged once off duty.
The second week, Alan and Maureen had to return home to work along with Alan H.
In there place came Angela and Geoff Norris who themselves have had a great time
stewarding at this very popular site (Camp Trearddur)
Over this holiday meet we have all met old friends who return year after year to
support our THS. Also we have met some new friends who have said they wish they
had joined us years ago!. Which only goes to prove we are the friendly club!.
So with that in mind you may just plan on joining us next year for an holiday to
experience 'Camp Trearddur' at Tyn Rhos in this beautiful part of Wales.
3-5 June Cabus
Thank you Les & Hazel for welcoming 13 units to camp this weekend with North
Lancs.
The weather was nice and everybody had a very relaxed weekend.
26-30 May Edisford Bridge
Stewarding for our spring bank meet were Geoff and Angela.
The site opened on Thursday, vans started to arrive shortly after we had set up.
The weather was more than a little unkind to us. But that didn't stop a total of
42 units on field, with everyone getting on with doing their own thing and not
letting the rain spoil their fun!.
We had quite a few new members who were surprised at the cost of DA camping
compared to other site prices.
Everyone over our Bank holiday weekend enjoyed themselves. The only bad bit is
that we took the decision to cancel was the coffee morning as it was to wet and
our marque is on holiday at our THS meet in Trearddur Bay.
20-22 May - 2011 North West Region Meet
Hello everyone, Thank you to all the North Lancs members who attended and
supported our region's meet held at Manor Cottage at St Michael's on Wyre.
Our area was stewarded by Geoff and Angela. Thank you!.
It was nice once again to see many North Lancs. members who we have not seen for
a long time. It was good to get out on field and meet up with so many old
friends and also make new ones.
North Lancs. members took part in many of the events held over the weekend, with
some fantastic results. So here goes with the list of congratulations.
second place in the dog show for waggiest tail was Geoff and Beth. Beth having
the waggiest tail not Geoff!
Our Pennon was carried in the parade this year by our chairman Alan D and
treasurer Alan H assisted by Margaret H, Tania W, Maureen D, Campbell M with
Jasmine W.
Presentation of flowers for the dignitary's, again north Lancs. shone through
well done! Ebony, Rossi, Jasmine & Poppy.
Then with the opening ceremony over it was our lovely young ladies to take to
the stage in the 'Miss May princess'
Well done girls, in our eyes you are all winners.
In the afternoon it was time for the sports, well done North Lancs. in fielding
a volleyball team! Well played in the driving rain. You all did us proud.
Then came the turn of the young ones for the fancy dress competition with North
Lancs. costumes claiming all three prizes
3rd place Batman, 2nd Minnie Mouse,1st place The 2012 Olympic torch.
Our DA funds stall did well with the books, cakes & choc-o-bola. Thank you
Angela and Chloe.
Evening entertainment saw some excellent cabaret acts entertaining all ages.
(check out our photo's)
In-fact we were kept busy right through the weekend trying to fit everything in
so not miss anything out.
Sunday proved very windy with more driving rain, campers were called from their
beds to help take things down to minimise damage.
Our Region AGM was well attended.
Congratulations to Margaret Hinchliffe our vice chair/sites officer who now will
serve as a region cllr.
North Lancs. would like to say a big Thank you to all the North west region for
all their pre-planning and hard work that goes on before, during and after in
making the event such an enjoyable success.
13-15 May Brocklehead Farm Darwen
Our steward for this weekend were Bert and
Barbara Clark. A big thank you for stewarding this meet for us and, also
providing all the leaflets and activity books for the children. Only a small
turn out this weekend which was probably one of the reasons with all the rain
and wind. But those that did turn up in support - Thank you. We were not
disappointed with the site as it was in very nice surrounding area with lovely
far stretching views. If the weather had been kinder our stewards had planned a
group walk taking in many points of interest in the area. Owen and Yvonne with
their children, Mathew and Joseph did venture out to visit Darwen tower but only
got a short distance when they came across a very enjoyable play park with
waterfalls and a duck pond, so they didn't quite reach their planned
destination. Everyone this weekend said what a relaxing time they'd had, despite
not being able to get the deck chairs out. Margaret also had the added enjoyment
of her new toy! We'll say no more!.
Saturday evening and as we looked out towards Blackburn we were treated to a
short firework display.
Sunday & it was decided that our coffee morning be cancelled. Much to our
visitors Angela & Geoff who came armed with their own cups. But the committee
did thank the stewards for a job well done! and our visitors did get their brew
and an added bonus - a piece of cake.
Next weekend it is the Big North West region meet at St Michael's with the AGM
on Sunday at 11am. A chance to have your say. Our stewards for the North Lancs.
area will be Angela and Geoff. We will also be running a cake, book and
choc-o-bola stall so any donation please can you hand them to Geoff and
Angela.
We look forward to seeing you there!
6-8 May Salterforth
Well folks another super weekend with North Lancs.
Big thank you to our Chairman Alan and his wife Maureen for stewarding for us
this weekend. Thanks also to Angela and Geoff for standing in till they arrived
from work.
We have alot of Thank you's this weekend so here goes.
Peter and Lillian for the return of the Marquee.
Geoff and Peter for putting it up in the time it took to boil a kettle and make
a well earned brew!
Geoff again for his craft skills in making a very popular 'Aunt sally' game.
Angela for the rocket game.
Campbell for the volley ball net.
Tania for the evening games and entertainment
Alan D and Alan H for the hot dog supper, very tasty!
Alan D for our music.
A big thanks to the volunteers who helped take the marquee down after our Sunday
coffee morning.
Friday evening saw everyone settling in and either enjoying watching or trying
their skills out with the rocket game or our new 'Aunt sally' game, while others
tried out the volleyball net. It was good to welcome back, not wishing to be
rude old north Lancs members . It was good to see you all. We also
welcomed back new members who again said that, they have had another brilliant
weekend with north Lancs.
Saturday was free time till the evening was upon us and our evening
entertainments began in our Marquee with Tania excelling with party games, fun
for all, followed by the 'Panty girls' our late Saturday evening cabaret.
Sunday coffee and prizes were awarded by our chairman to the children who were,
Joshua winner of our cream teaser and Joseph won the musical statues well done
boys!
Our chairman thanked everyone for another very successful meet and wished
everyone a safe journey home Our vice chair and sites officer Margaret informed
everyone about our next few up and coming weekends. Margaret also asked if
anyone could steward one of the two meets that unfortunately needed stewards to
cover, due to illness. So if you are reading this and think you can help please
contact us via the club phone or any committee via our contacts page. This is
your DA and if we don't get stewards then meets will unfortunately have to be
cancelled as the committee cannot steward them all.
We are always grateful to every steward. and if you do steward a meet you get FREE camping that weekend. But the bonus doesn't stop there, your name will go in a draw for another free weekend which is drawn at our AGM. So please it's not hard and there is always someone on hand to assist you. So please think about it, until next time on field take care.
29 April - 2 May Farmer Parr's Fleetwood
Well done NLDA! Another fun packed weekend. This time to celebrate the wedding of HRH Prince William to his lovely bride Miss Catherine Middleton. Our meet was at Farmer Parr's Fleetwood.
Our stewards where Pam and Campbell Martin. Friday was book in, wind down and
welcome one and all. For those lucky enough, we were treated to a Royal chippy
supper run 'Thank you Alan H for doing the honours they were yummy!
Saturday and up went the bunting, the sun shone but due to high winds the street
party was postponed to the evening reception for safety (in case of flying food,
tables and plates.) But the children's sports did go ahead. We had a sack
races,3 legged races, a race of 'blind billy', followed by wellie wanging and a
game of family rounders.

Margaret.
Sunday we had our 11am coffee, the lucky Royal van
draw with a bottle of Royal chocs and bubbly.
Farmer Parr the land owner granted us 1/2 price admission into the animal park,
so a big Royal thank you to him. With all this going on it was hard to fit in a
visit to nearby Freeport or catch a glimpse of the sea. Please don't forget to
check out our photo section, and feel free to leave a message at our guest book
Next week we are at Salterforth, This is going to be a more relaxed weekend after the last two bank holiday meets. The meet opens at 12noon. So look forward to seeing you there.
21-25 April Cabus Easter & St George meet
Well everyone! what can we say but FABULOUS. The weather was tremendous which allowed our programme of fun packed actives all to take place & be enjoyed from the youngest to the not so young.!!
Our stewards were our Chairman Alan D & his wife Maureen who on Thursday made everyone welcome & booked us all in & ensured we all had a prog with all our events on helped by fellow committee members Geoff & Angela Norris.
Thursday evening & everyone was settling in. Friday morning saw a family game of boules take place followed in the afternoon by the children's sports & family rounders. In the evening after a well earned rest it was into the function room for the first of our evening socials. Raffle tickets & hot cross bun tickets were on sale, so to was regalia throughout the meet.
Saturday morning & Tania & her helpers Kathryn & Lottie got the children's craft workshop going where the children were able to create their own Easter bonnets & decorated egg. In the afternoon it was the wellie wanging (throwing) competition. Then Saturday night & the second of our socials with North Lancs got hidden talent. Then a surprise presentation to Mr. John Stansfield to mark 50 years of membership of the camping & caravanning club. He was lead to believe he was to judge a competition but with help from Mark the land owner he was in for a shock. Our chairman presented a plaque & a celebration cake, which was made by committee member Angela. There was also a light buffet for all to enjoy, provided by the committee of north Lancs. weather he did an excellent job. A big thank you to Geoff one of our committee
members who after arriving on field assisted Eddie by siting the unit up, so
thank you Geoff for that, you were a big help. The weather as you will all know
has been absolutely glorious.
In true tradition we ran a sweep for the grand
national. Thanks Geoff once again and Alan our chairman for setting up the
equipment so we could all sit round and join in the excitement. Well done to
Chris and Tania for the winning horse, followed by second past the post Haley
and Dave, and third went to Kelly and Mark.
BBQ seem to be the order of the weekend, along with lazing in the sun while
others took off for a walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside, while
others paid a visit to the farm. It was truly great to be able to open our van
windows and for us all be out on field in warm sunny weather. Some of us paying
the price for falling asleep. Panda eyes!! U know who you are.
Sunday and again we were able to sit in the sun for our coffee morning chaired
by Alan (our chairman) who gave out the grateful thanks to all this weekend. He
also let everyone know of the up and coming meets. Our Easter/St George's meet
at Cabus with a full programme of events planned. Then following on, our Royal

bank. Every little helps.
Oh! Just two more word 'Fan assisted' U know who you are!!
23-25 February Belated Burns Night at Petre Arms
Congratulations! to our stewards Pam, Campbell, Chloe and Anya for such a splendid belated burns night celebrations.
On Friday there was a steady arrival of vans our last one arriving just after 8pm. A very good turn out for this time of year.
Saturday and some of the campers took time during the day for local sight seeing, while others stayed on field and lent a hand at veg peeling and haggis cooking. Raffle tickets were also on sale throughout the day.
As night fell we headed to the hall for the evenings highland activities. Greeted by our stewards in true Scottish dress. Tables were decorated in keeping of our Scottish theme. There was also a Scottish flavour to the raffle, prizes of whiskey, a hip flask, shortbread and a Scottish doll to name a few. Raffle tickets were again on sale also a chance to have a go on our very popular 'choc-o-bola.
The traditional piping of the Haggis and whisky toast followed our meal of Haggis tatties and neaps which was enjoyed by all even those who opted for meatballs could not resist a taste of the haggis!. If you had room there was cheese and biscuits to finish off. Dancing, games, the raffle draw then the awarding of prizes to the quiz and colouring competition winners, continued the evening entertainment. With the traditional Scottish end to the night with everyone joining in Auld Lang's Syne.
Sunday and the rain held off for us to enjoy coffee morning round the flag at the stewards van. Notices were read out and thanks extended to the committee and to you the members that helped make the weekend such a rousing success.
11 - 13 Feb. Valentine Meet/AGM at
Whittingham & Goosnargh S&SC
Well everyone, we have just got back from the first rally of our
new camping season. The weather could have been a little nicer to us, but what a
turn out for our first rally it was really good considering the weather we had.
Thank you to all who turned out in support of this meet which was important, as
not only was it the first meet of the season but Your AGM as well as the
valentine meet. Where you find out about how your DA works and who will be your
committee.
Please check contact section for listing of your new
committee members. Please let us know your view as this is your club so if you
have suggestions for improvement or your unhappy about anything then please
speak to your committee.
Angela and Geoff were our stewards for the weekend so thank you to them. The AGM
was held at 2pm, we were pleased to have camping with us, in attendance at
our meeting two region committee members which we are grateful for there
support. The stewards draw also took place during the AGM which is a thank you
to all the members who throughout 2010 gave their time to steward rallies. Names
drawn received a voucher for a free weekend camping during 2011. Refreshments
were served after the close of the meeting which gave everyone time for a chat
to friends who we may have not seen for quite some time.
Saturday night and love was in the air as the spotlight fell on two junior
members who entertained us when they enjoyed a candle lit supper, exchanged
cards, gifts and then took to the floor for a romantic dance. Hope you enjoyed
yourselves Leighton (aged 5) & Jasmin (aged 8)
During the evening Pam and Campbell provided the valentine Mr & Mrs game which
provided lots of amusement. the winners were Peter and Lillian - Congratulations
to you both. A free supper was served during the evening. Over the weekend
Margaret had been busy selling tickets for our valentine raffle draw, this took
place after supper. Music and dancing also added to our night of romance. The
evening rounded off with the bucket game with the proceeds being split half to
the winner and half to cancer care.
Sunday and our coffee morning was held at 11am. Our elected chairman Alan Davis
thanked everyone for their support in attending this weekend, also giving out
details of our next meet which is a meet not to be missed. Our belated Burns
night, A true Scottish night hosted by Pam and Campbell at the Petre arms.
Please see our latest poster for details. Alan closed by wishing everyone a safe
journey home.
